About us

Lime Resources Germany GmbH: Ownership

Lime Resources Germany GmbH (“Lime Resources Germany”), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Lime Petroleum Holding AS (“LPH”), owns a portfolio of onshore assets in the Rhein River Valley and the molasse basin in Germany, including the Schwarzbach field south of Frankfurt and the Steig field close to Karlsruhe.

LPH is an 80.14% subsidiary of Rex International Holding Limited, a multinational oil & gas company headquartered in Singapore and listed on the Singapore Stock Exchange Mainboard.

Operator in Upper Rhine Graben

Lime Resources Germany is an operator that specialises in the exploration and production of domestic crude oil and gas. The company has a balanced portfolio of onshore exploration and production assets, located mainly in the Upper Rhine Graben and the Bavarian Alpine foothills.

Established in December 2024 following the acquisition of the abovementioned assets and personnel, Lime Resources Germany has extensive expertise in conventional hydrocarbon exploration and production.

With its focus on responsible exploration and use of local raw materials, the medium-sized company applies state-of-the-art data analytics and technologies in its operations.  The insights gained, along with advanced and efficient drilling methods, can be used to develop potential deposits. Lime Resources Germany employs purely conventional drilling and production techniques on its assets, and has made the decision not to participate in the exploration and production of resources using fracturing methods.

Lime Resources Germany's strategy is to explore for and produce hydrocarbons, especially crude oil, safely, resource-efficiently, and in an environmentally-friendly manner, in close co-operation with local, national, and international stakeholders and authorities.

Sustainability

As an oil & gas exploration and production company, Lime Resources Germany takes seriously its responsibilities with regard to protecting the environment, the company’s employees, and the local community.

Lime Resources Germany considers crude oil as a “high-tech” raw material, the production of which, when managed sustainably with the efficient use of materials, energy and technology, would complement global efforts in energy transition.

Our sustainability efforts are focused on the following areas:

  • Governance

  • Environment

  • Energy Security

  • Sustainability

  • Occupational Health & Safety

Governance

  • Lime Resources Germany adheres to the highest national and international standards in the implementation of our projects.

  • Regular constructive exchange and close dialogue with relevant authorities, cities and municipalities, as well as with official representatives of environmental, nature and water conservation, nature conservation organisations and environmental associations, is a matter of course for Lime Resources Germany.

  • As Lime Resources Germany produces oil domestically, we can ensure that all work is carried out in compliance with environmental protection and occupational safety requirements under official supervision.

  • We adopt an open and transparent information policy on our projects and are committed to keeping the public informed about our work through active communication and project transparency.

Environment

  • Oil domestically produced by Lime Resources Germany does not have to be transported over long distances, hence emissions are lower than imported oil.

  • In the development and implementation of all our exploration & production projects, we strive to minimise our carbon footprint by various means, such as limiting well intervention on the surface by reducing the size of areas to be sealed to the smallest possible space, and by consistently using  green electricity.

  • We are already implementing the EU Methane Directive 2024/1787, aimed at ending routine flaring of associated petroleum gas in oil production and minimising fugitive methane emissions. Lime Resources Germany’s production facilities are designed to use methane gas extracted during oil production for heating or generating power for the company’s own plant and feeding into the public grid, so that flaring of methane gas is avoided.

Energy Security

  • Lime Resources Germany successfully produces crude oil in Bavaria and Southern Hesse, thus contributing to Germany's energy / raw material security.

Sustainability

Lime Resources Germany is also active in several nature conservation projects, including efforts to completely renaturalise and recultivate used areas after the end of oil exploration & production activities:

  • Regional seeds were sowed to recultivate former meadows that were intensively used for agriculture and hence poor in species, thus laying the foundation for more species and plant diversity. During the project, lizard and bat replacement habitats were also set up again and again.

  • A moth mapping project in Weingarten, carried out as part of nature conservation investigations for the mining operation plan application for the development of the Steig oil field owned by Lime Resources Germany, has been incorporated into the state’s database on "Butterflies" at the Karlsruhe Museum of Natural History.

  • Lime Resources Germany is investigating the feasibility of repurposing its unsuccessful or depleted wells for geothermal heat generation, and has developed a concrete concept with which heat from the depths can be fed into a local heating network through a closed system.

Occupational Health & Safety

  • Lime Resources Germany is also committed to maintaining high standards for Occupational Health & Safety, a corporate culture that we hope every employee and contractor will proactively help to shape.
